For those of you who are new to The Liebster Award like myself, it was created to recognize and/or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere. I want to say a massive thank you to the fabulous blog Continuing With M.E. for nominating me for the Liebster Award!
The rules are as follows:
- Once nominated, make a post thanking and linking the person who nominated you.
- Include the LEIBSTER AWARD sticker in the post too.
- Nominate 10 other bloggers who you think are worthy of this award. Let them know they have been nominated by commenting on 1 of their posts. You can nominate the person who nominated you.
- Answer the 10 questions asked to you by the person who nominated you and make ten questions of your own for your nominees.
- Lastly, copy these rules in the post.
Do you have a favourite number and if so what is it?
10 because I love everything being a 10/10 although this is an extremely unrealistic expectation, especially when you have ME!
What is your favourite colour?
This Summer I’m mad for everything and anything blue: blue interiors (we recently painted our kitchen cupboards Annie Sloan’s Louis Blue Chalk Paint for a rustic French feel) and blue denim, especially double denim which is so wrong, it’s right. Blondes suit blue although If I could only wear one colour for the rest of my life, it would definitely have to be black.
What is the one place you would love to travel to and why?
SCANDINAVIA! Cruises are one of my favourite ways to travel and the next cruise my mum and I have planned stops at my most-sought after destinations, Copenhagen in Denmark, Helsinki in Finland and Stockholm in Sweden. I would also LOVE to go on a more scenic cruise through the Norwegian Fjords. Why? My preferred design aesthetic is the simple and solid elegance of modern Scandinavian design, in areas such as architecture, interior, fashion and lifestyle.
Are you a routine person or do you like to go with the flow?
Hmm I’m not too sure about this one… I would say that on a day to day basis I have to have a habitual routine to manage my ME symptoms but deep down I’m super spontaneous so the routine can be broken at any point, much more so when I’m having a good day and want to do anything and everything!
What’s one thing that always makes you happy when you are having a bad day?
CAKE. I am one of those girls who eats her feelings (oh gosh) and cake always makes me happy (am i actually writing about this on my blog), I don’t know what it is about it (lets put it down to my sugar addiction). If my boyfriend ever surprises me or buys me gifts, I’m always secretly hoping its cake (I wish I was joking). Here is the ME cake my friend Britt from The Fat Feeder made for a charity event I hosted during ME Awareness Week (in our new blue kitchen). Check out her Instagram and Twitter pages for more spectacular cakes!
Why did you start blogging and what inspires you to write?
I started blogging when I was 15 after researching tips/advice on how to get a job in the fashion industry; I read a lot about how having a blog is a great way to express your interests and show how passionate you about something (fashion in my case). It started as an imagery blog on Tumblr then when I went to university, I discovered my writing skills were stronger than my visual skills so after much encouragement from my university, I harnessed this and began to communicate through writing!
Do you have a favourite website?
Models.com – the mecca for modelling info
Vogue.co.uk – for fashion news
What shows are you currently watching?
When you have ME, depending on how severe it is, you can end up spending most of your time in bed and there is little else you can do apart from read and watch tv… On good days I can stream through hours of my favourite tv shows whilst on bad days I’m not well enough to manage any at all. It is safe to say that since my ME has become more severe, I’ve become a bit of a tv fanatic! I don’t watch episode after episode of the same series though, I get bored too easily and have difficulty concentrating (hello ME again) so I flick from one series to another.
Those that I’m currently watching are:
The Affair, Madam Secretary, New Girl, Reckless, Empire, Love Island, Vampire Diaries, Game Of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, The Real Housewives of Miami, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Jordskott, The Tunnel, The Only Way Is Essex and Orange Is The New Black. I would be grateful for any tv suggestions, it’s becoming difficult to find good tv to watch because I seemed to have watched all the good stuff!
Whats your favourite genre of music?
Hmm I would probably say garage if I had to pick one. I used to go to clubs and festivals to discover new music, however, since my ME has become so severe, clubbing/festivals are out of the question and listening to music seems to make me want to do all the things I can no longer do so I try to avoid the music I used to listen to. Wouldn’t it be great if there were festivals specifically for people in wheelchairs/with disabilities so then we could enjoy them too? Recently I’ve taken a new interest in feel good songs and a lot of 80’s: Madonna, Whitney and anything from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. This moment is one of my favourite film/music moments ever!
How would you describe your personality?
In 3 words I would say sociable, impulsive and ambitious. I could be completely wrong though because my personality is quite adaptable to the situations I’m in so it can change a great deal.
